Update government ABN details

It is important to keep your agency’s Australian business number (ABN) details up to date to maintain the integrity of the Australian Business Register (ABR).

Your agency must notify the Registrar of the ABR within 28 days of becoming aware of changes to your agency’s ABN details.

If an authorised contact changes roles or leaves the agency, the ABN contact details should be updated as soon as possible.

This ensures that matters relating to the ABN can be handled efficiently and by an authorised person.

Note: If your agency’s structure changes as a result of government changes, you may need to update, cancel or apply for a new ABN. Any changes to your agency’s ABN will require formal documentary evidence, for example, a gazettal notice or administrative order.

How to update ABN details

The fastest way to update your agency’s ABN details is online using myGovID. Your myGovID will need to be linked to your organisation’s ABN using Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM).
