Update government ABN details
It is the responsibility of your agency to notify the Registrar of the Australian Business Register (ABR) within 28 days of becoming aware of changes to Australian business number (ABN) details.
It is important that your agency’s Australian business number details are kept up-to-date to maintain the integrity of the ABR.
If an authorised contact changes roles or leaves the organisation the ABN contact details should be updated as soon as possible. This ensures that matters relating to the ABN can be handled efficiently and by an authorised person.
If your agency’s structure changes as a result of government changes you may need to update, cancel or apply for a new ABN. Any changes to your agency’s ABN will require formal documentary evidence. For example, a gazettal notice or administrative order.
